If you begi to lean your upper body towards the general direction you want to carve in, you will definately find it much more easier. Carving on a skateboard is also similar to carving on say a snowboard, apart from the fact that you do not catch your edge and die like uou would most probably do on a snowboard. If you want to carve really deeply, then how about trying to bend your knees a lot more and crouching lower on your skateboard.
Carving is much more easier to perform on a longboard, but it is a an important skill to harness in any board sport.Saturday, January 19, 2008
Guide to carving on your skateboard
This is all about leaning how to perform a toeside or heelside and to get your skateboard to turn in that particular direction, simple really. Start off by first of all pushing your board, and whilst you are rolling, place all of your weight onto your heels of your feet. You will now slowly begin to turn in that direction. The harder you push on your heels the faster your turning will be. While you are skating around, you will be also be using this teqnique a lot of the time. Just go and practice outside and try pushing forward and carving around various objects. Now try pushing right at something that you do not want to hit, such as a curb or something simlar. Whilst you do this see if you can carve around or away from it.
